2019 Belle Âme Shiraz
BAROSSA VALLEY
2019
COLOUR
Deep garnet with a dark ruby hue—almost opaque in the glass. The dense, saturated appearance hints at the wine’s intensity and concentration.
NOSE
Medium in intensity but layered and brooding. A deep core of dark fruit—black cherry, plum, and compote—forms the foundation, with lifted notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, and coffee from well-integrated oak. Underneath, savoury aromas of black pepper, clove, and cured meat add complexity, giving the nose a refined Black Forest cake profile. Freshness remains, but there’s great promise in its depth.
PALATE
A bold, structured and powerful wine. Grippy, spice-driven tannins hit the front palate with immediacy, creating a mouth-coating effect that is both assertive and refined. Ripe, dark fruits—cherry, plum, and blackberry—dominate the mid-palate, supported by savoury oak notes of pepper, clove, and meatiness. Despite its scale, the finish is soft and persistent, with a lingering echo of spice and fruit. The vibrancy of youth is unmistakable.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
This wine is a showcase of concentration and restraint. Its plush, ripe tannins are expertly balanced by freshness and finesse. Beautiful oak spice and meaty complexity lift the nose, while the palate’s grip and presence point to serious aging potential. Big and bold yet still refined. A cellar-worthy standout.
VINTAGE NOTES
The 2019 vintage delivered exceptional quality from one of the smallest crops in years. A dry winter and spring, combined with warm conditions and windy weather during flowering, led to poor fruit set and a significantly reduced yield—down one-third from 2018, The season produced concentration, structure, and depth.
